 General information about the program

     Program objevtives:
      The main objective of the Graduate Program in Astrophysics and Cosmology is to provide the students a wide knowledge in the area of Galactic and Extragalactic Astrophysics and Cosmological Physics that will allow them a professional delevopment in this field, both through a researching carrer via PhD, or by working in institutes or astronomical observatories, or teaching, etc...

     
     Participanting departaments:
      The Astrophysics Group of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid is in charge of this graduate program. All courses will be given at the Theoretical Physics Department.

     
     Registration instructions:
      Registration is performed in 2 parts.
      • Pre-registration at the Theoretical Physics Department. Forms can be obtained from Theoretical Physics department secretary, located in the 6th floor of the C-XI module in the Faculty of Sciences, and has to be signed by one of the professors of the group.

      • The normal pre-registration dates are between September 22nd and 27th of 2005. Foreing students that did not have time to register in the normal period can also register for the 2nd semester courses during February 14th -- 28rd of 2004.

         
      • The final registration is done by the end of October, for the normal period, and in March for the 2nd semester courses.

      • Students that have not completed undergraduate studies in a Spanish University must first apply to UAM's Doctorate Commission for permission to join a Doctorate Program at UAM.

    GRANTS FOR STUDENTS THAT JOIN THIS PROGRAM:

    This graduate program has been chosen to receive funds from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (MECD), due to its quality, through the Mobility Program for Professors and Students of the Third Cicle.

    This program is also intended to finance the accomodation in Madrid for the period of the courses. This grants can be applied by foreing students that did not complete their undergraduate studies at UAM. These grants are compatible with all other pre-doctoral grants.

    GRANTS FOR STUDENTS FROM SOUTH AMERICA:

    The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), in accordance with the Grupo Santander Central Hispano (SCH), offers grants for students coming from some universities from South America that want to perform studies in the UAM.
